American secular education is in serious trouble. The broken rudder leaves the situation far worse than many realize and deepening with passage of time. A philosophy of education that fails to acknowledge any transcendent reality has and will continue to produce people unable to function and fully flourish; the natural outcome is a dependent populace who seeks to be taken care of by the State. Unless the Church intervenes, we cannot expect anything differently.
We need a Church with a well-trained Mind that can transcend and lead.
The Ship is under water; students are suffering immeasurably, for it is unlivable. A developing child ( and his/her parents) cannot find right and wrong by studying the table of chemicals. Nor can he/she find a sense of Being in a rain forest. A new green carbon- free earth can’t teach a young boy how to become a MAN– the ultimate crisis of modernity. When parents themselves are living in a meaningless, senseless, world of nihilism, they can’t function well enough to raise children. The ongoing systemic breakdown currently underway is devastating, depressing, heartbreaking and scary.
The culture needs to be rebuilt on Truth…not on feelings, and the Church must realize She is the source from which education must come; the call in our time is for faithfulness in erecting a K-12 cognitive framework of Truth in the midst of the vapors.
Yes, that means making an appeal to legislatures to release tax dollars back to parents. We need school boards dedicated to the Common Good, who will work to provide infrastructure for those within our neighborhoods.

To navigate the ocean of thought and rebuild education, people of orthodox Christian Faith need to make big changes in thought forms. This will require courageous leaders who will leave the shallow waters, to dive into deeper waters in order to understand how the philosophical underpinnings drive culture.
We need to find this thing to take a good look at it in order to understand how the gears work, the mechanism of the philosophical intersection of Faith (in something) and Culture– the practices that follow which create culture.
It is time to leave the Little League, where kids play soft ball with Truth. We need men and women who will get into the Big League to play hard ball with the Pros.
